Book Review: If You Have to Cry, Go Outside

On my latest trip to my local Chapters, I decided to pick up the newly released "If You Have to Cry, Go Outside" by legendary PR powerhouse (Kelly Cutrone).

When I picked up this book, I thought I would initiate my usual cheapskate routine of the read and return. Surprisingly, I decided to keep this wonderful book.

At 23, I have embarked on a journey of self-discovery attempting to figure out what I want in life after everything around me seemed to be crumbling around me. While reading this book there were many times where I had to say, "OMG , you're right!" & "Preach it, sister!" This book is a honest & candid road map on how to get to where you want to go, even if you have no clue where that is.

I ate up everything this inspiring & ballsy Mama Wolf (as she has so eloquently has dubbed herself) had to say. I enjoyed her raw & no bullshit candor while she was telling me every thing my mother never told me. Her message of dancing to the beat of your own drum without being distract by the those around you; whether it be your parents, teachers, friends, siblings, etc. would be a survival guide to suffering the crabs in a bucket scenario.

With chapters on how to find your tribe (those soulmates in your life who help you find your path), how a breakdown can be a breakthrough, and how there is no such thing as perfection in our flawed society. Kelly shares her practical advice or how to make it in this crazy world.

Raw, hilarious, shocking, and making no time to sugar coat or bullshit you, Kelly calls upon you to muster up the courage to follow your soul, wherever it may take you. I highly recommend this quick read for women specifically and anyone wishing to break through the PR, fashion industry, or or just anyone trying to find they're way in this crazy world. I HIGHLY recommend Chapter 3 on her eureka moment-- I was filled with inspiration & hope. Amazing book, Kelly!
